(in)Perfectus Unio*

“..‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’[.]  So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”  Matthew 19:5-6

Once upon a time, there was a Fair Maiden and a Handsome Prince.  Over a much befuddled period of time, and in like manner they finally came to stand, together, before a Man-of-God, several joyful Witnesses and God Himself.

There in the Rose Garden on a overcast afternoon the Man-of-God spoke words of Covenant to the Fair Maiden, the Handsome Prince, before the joyful Witnesses and God Himself.  The Fair Maiden and Handsome Prince repeated the words of Covenant, little knowing how God Himself would lead them on a far, far journey, at times an arduous journey, through beautiful spring and summer days, through difficult and sometimes bleak autumn and winter days; that they might learn what the words of Covenant meant.

Until today, this special autumn day when they would celebrate an annus verto* for the 27th time.

We continue the journey began so many years ago.  We cherish each other, our Covenant, and the joyful witnesses that God Himself has blessed us to raise under this Covenant and His Word.

Let marriage be had in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled.”  Hebrews 13:4 (ASV)

Let us rejoice and be exceeding glad, and let us give the glory unto him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.”  Revelation 19:7 (ASV)

Post Script:  This is also my 27th blog post!  God has such a sense of humor.  :O)

It Is My Father’s

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

Genesis 1:1

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him;

male and female he created them.”

Genesis 1:27

“Let them praise the name of the Lord! For he commanded and they were created.”

Psalm 148:5

“For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.”

Colossians 1:16

For behold, he who forms the mountains and creates the wind,
and declares to man what is his thought,
who makes the morning darkness,
and treads on the heights of the earth—
the Lord, the God of hosts, is his name!

Amos 4:13

My dear Sojourner, know that “[y]ou are not your own, for you were bought with a price.” (1 Corinthians 6:19b-20a), and that we who would follow Him, must die to self so that we might live in Him (Mt. 16:24; Gal. 2:20).  Since all is our Father’s, do we need to run after the things of this world?  Do we need, with clenched fists, to hold on to the things of this world?  My Father gives us all things that are needful (Rom. 8:32).  Won’t you trust Him with what you need?

Let go.  Let God.

On the Journey,

Dressy Flowers

I like to sew.  I am not a profound seamstress.  I learned to sew from a teacher I worked with in northern (really northern) California.  She was ever so patient with me.  Once I got the hang of it, I sewed for my then little girl, making us matching Easter outfits every year, and her lots of jumpers and dresses.  So this pattern has been in my sewing box for a long time.

I have another little girl that is just the right size.  So, I dug it out again and made this little dress with some clearance fabric from JoAnn’s.

With matching shorts (or bloomers) since the wearer of this dress is quite active and busy.

I entered the outfit in the county fair, but the “competition was stiff” and I didn’t get a ribbon.  That’s alright.  The flowers are so cheery and the dress so flowery; it sparks joy.

Joy On the Journey,

Is It Worth It?

“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?”

Matthew 16:26

But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ.  Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.”

Philippians 3:7-8a

Are you willing to lay it at the foot of the cross?  All of it?

On the Journey,

Willingly, for You

And to these also Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying,

Behold, the Lord came with ten thousands of his holy ones”

Jude 14

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—

but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:6-8

If you were the only one in all of history to follow Jesus,

He still would have come.  Willingly, for you.
